Microsoft 365 App Registration and Setup

Setting up and retrieving the token-based authentication credentials from Microsoft

Step 1:  Open the Microsoft Entra adminAdmin portalPortal

    Navigate to the Microsoft Entra admin center
    .

    Go to Applications | App Registrations | Owned Applications. in the menu

    Step 3:2: AddRegister a newNew Application

      Click New App Registration. Open the newly created app registrationregistration. Navigate to API Permissions in the menu.

      Step 3: Open the new app registration and go toConfigure API Permissions

      in
      theIf menu

      Stepan 4:SMTP Setupexchange does not exist, set up a new SMTPone. exchangeClick if one does not already exist and click Add a permissionPermission.

      Step 5: Choose Microsoft Graph | Application Permissions,Permissions.

      searchSearch for mail.sendMail.Send and select itit. to send mail as any user. Click Add Permission. at the bottom to continue

        Step 7:5: GoGenerate Client Secret

          Navigate to Certificates & secretsSecrets |Client Secrets.

          Add

          Enter a description and set thean Expiresexpiration toperiod the appropriate duration. We recommend (24 months torecommended). ensureClick Add. Copy and store the SMTP is not affected by the expiry for as long a period as possible. Click Add at the bottom to continue

          Copy the value from the page for the secret added, this is your Client secret.Secret PleaseValue storeimmediately this as (it will not be available later

          Step 7:6: Retrieve App Credentials

            Go to the Overview menusection andof copyyour app registration. Copy the following details:
              Application (client)Client) ID and Directory (tenant)Tenant) ID for your App registration

                From Email Address: Any user within the tenant'stenant email address
